The challenge.
Automotive electronics change quickly, while vehicles become more expensive and fragile. Schools needed ways to teach new techniques and let students learn from mistakes without relying solely on physical equipment.
The key decision.
The HoloLens application combined 3D vehicle visualisation with mixed reality procedures. Teachers could follow training on a screen, monitor students and provide feedback.
The rejected option & why.
Relying only on physical vehicles limited opportunities to practise on costly, fragile technology. Mixed reality offered an additional environment for learning procedures and making mistakes.
The outcome.
The application demonstrated how mixed reality could support automotive education, with schools joining the initiative. Smartphone and tablet versions were planned to broaden access.
The final verdict.
The project connected immersive learning with teacher supervision. Concept work, prototyping and interface design supported the implementation, with RMDY acting as Diagnose Car’s development partner.
