The challenge.
VDAB wanted to help assess entry into construction, a sector with high turnover. Candidates needed realistic, intuitive tasks that could reveal practical abilities and responses to different working conditions.
The key decision.
Three virtual jobs offered increasing levels of interaction, from questions about installing a washbasin to laying roof tiles and kneeling to place floor tiles. Timed tasks, points and additional tests addressed skills such as safety awareness and teamwork.
The rejected option & why.
A questionnaire alone could not demonstrate the physical actions involved in every role. The experience also included practical interactions, such as working at height and kneeling to lay tiles.
The outcome.
The VR assessment brought practical construction tasks to job fairs, offering candidates and employers a clearer view of the potential match.
The final verdict.
The work combined concept refinement, prototype testing and interface design with development guidance. Onboarding and event support helped the client put the VR experience into use.
